Corrine “Corky” Mjelde, 81, of Two Harbors, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Ecumen Scenic Shores.

Corrine “Corky” Mjelde, 81, of Two Harbors, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Ecumen Scenic Shores.

She was born Nov. 10, 1929, to Clifford and Alice (Englestad) Orvik in Nielsville. Corky attended grade school in Nielsville and high school in Climax. After graduation she went on to attend college in Fargo and Moorhead before marrying Archie Mjelde in 1948.

Corky worked for Lake County School District 381 for 25 years, starting in the kitchen but spending most of her time as a teacher’s aide, where she enjoyed working with children. She was a longtime member of Sychar Lutheran Church and Royal Neighbors of America.

Corky is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Patsy.

She is survived by her husband, Archie; sons, Greg (Marilyn) of Ogilvie and Grant (Mary) of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Ross (Sarah), Wade (Shannon), Beth (Ryan) Huddy, Shawn, and Brook; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Mason, Brody, and Violet; and sister, Ramona Whitson.

Corky’s family would like to thank the staff of Carefree Living in Silver Bay and Ecumen Scenic Shores for their excellent care. Thanks also go to Dr. McMahon and Pastor Paul Taintor.
