Several locals attended the Senior Citizen Luncheon at the Lake County Fair on Thursday afternoon. Bob Nikolai was honored as Outstanding Senior Citizen of year from this area. Bob is very involved throughout the community and the County. Congratulations to Bob!

Congratulations to Lavonne Olson who was also honored as Outstanding Senior Citizen of the year from the Two Harbors area. Bob and Yvonne will be honored at the Minnesota State Fair Outstanding Senior Citizens Awards Ceremony on Thursday in St. Paul. All counties in Minnesota will be represented and one will be chose to represent the State of Minnesota.

Dale and Joretta Nikula, Lloyd and Carol Houle, Judy Martell, and Ruth Himes were local guests of Robert King and his family at a dinner at Camp 61 in Beaver Bay Friday evening.

A family remembrance gathering was held on Saturday afternoon at the Finland Heritage Site for Bob King’s father, Lloyd King. Lloyd passed away July 19 in Andover, Minn. at the age of 97. A large group of relatives and friends were in attendance. There was a slide presentation of Lloyd’s life and refreshments were served. Bob and Diane King live in Vienna, Va. Their daughter Samantha lives in Washington, D.C.

Congratulations go out to Jeremy Holden and Natalie Bushbaum. They were married on Saturday with a reception and dance following at the Silver Bay Reunion Hall.

The last summer service at Zion Lutheran Church was held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday with the semi-annual meeting, followed by a pot luck supper and Worship at 6:30. Next Sunday the time will change. Coffee Fellowship will be at 10:30 a.m. and worship at 11:30.

Fall is in the air. Plans are under way for the 26th Annual Harvest Booya and Finn Fest. It will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Clair Nelson Community Center.
