Arts on Superior and the City of Two Harbors present the Two Harbors Ukulele Group (T.H.U.G.) at 7 p.m. tonight at the bandshell in Thomas Owens Park in Two Harbors as part of the Fridays in the Park series.
In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to Emmanuel Lutheran Church across from the park on Waterfront Drive.
Known as southwestern Lake County’s premiere ukulele orchestra, T.H.U.G. continues the series with their inimitable blend of music, humor, and schtick. Formed in 2009 in Two Harbors by Al Anderson, the T.H.U.G. ukulele orchestra has grown rapidly, swelling in numbers and popularity. For the last year and a half, T.H.U.G.’s calendar has been filled with appearances at local events, making them many new friends.
T.H.U.G. will be in fine form tonight as they prepare to host the Silver Creek Ukulele Carnival the following weekend. The carnival will feature workshops and concerts by ukulele artists, including out-of-town artists Ukester Brown and the Ditch Lilies. Afternoon workshops and concert are free and open to the public. Find the full schedule for the August 20-21 Silver Creek Ukulele Festival at www.twoharborsukulelegroup.com.
Be warned, you might get bit by the ukulele bug.
Fridays in the Park series is funded in part by the Two Harbors Area Fund, the Two Harbors Federal Credit Union, and Great River Energy.
