The level of Lake Superior dropped two inches in February, the usual amount for the month, according to the International Lake Superior Board of Control.
The big lake sits 13 inches below its normal for March 1 and one inch higher than March 1, 2011. Water supplies to the lake in February were well below normal. The lake is expected to remain about the same in March before beginning its annual upward cycle in April as snow melts and spring rain push the lake up through August.
The levels of Lakes Huron and Michigan fell two inches in February, when they usually don’t change. Those lakes sit 13 inches below normal and six inches higher than March 1, 2011.
