New sign in memory of Two Harbors nativeA new sign above the Masonic Lodge in Two Harbors was installed this week in memory of a live-long lodge member.
The Masonic Lodge in Two Harbors had a new sign installed Monday, thanks to the craft work of Dick Bohrer of Silver Creek Signworks. The sign was donated by Helen Carlstrom in memory of her late husband, Emery Carlstrom, who was a member of the lodge for 47 years before he died in September 2010.
In June 2010, Emery was given the Hiram award, the highest lifetime award given to a Mason. He was born in 1917 in Two Harbors and lived in the city his entire life.
Emery was a renowned plasterer in the region, working on many homes and businesses in the Two Harbors area. He was also part of the Pierre the Voyageur project in 1960. He was an ardent supporter and member of many civic organizations.
Helen, 93, is still an active member of the Eastern Star organization.
