Letter to the editor: Leaders need to work for usIt is time for our political leaders to remove their heads from their rear ends and do the job that you were sent there to do. That means you need to work together to help solve our problems.

People are hurting and our state government has made it worse, much worse, with the shutdown. We have people and businesses that depend on tourism to earn a living. I was in a local restaurant on the North Shore one day this past week at noon and I was the only patron. Usually at this time of year that restaurant is full because of tourists visiting Split Rock and Gooseberry state parks.
We have people out of work now who shouldn’t be and only because our politicians can’t work together.
Despite the agreements reached this week, the shutdown revealed long-term problems.
It is time for our political leaders to remove their heads from their rear ends and do the job that you were sent there to do. That means you need to work together to help solve our problems.
I don’t care what parties you are affiliated with. You are all acting like little children, though I think a group of 6-year-olds could probably do a better job of things right now than you are.
Politicians need to realize they are not going to get everything they want. The definition that you need to look up are the words “compromise” and “listening.” You can’t hear anything when your minds are closed and your mouths are open.
So, to our politicians, I say forget the party affiliations just work together to solve the darn problems. Just remember one thing: You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.
Now get to work.
