Chad Smuk of William Kelly High School in Silver Bay (pictured) recently received the Two Harbors Area Chamber of Commerce’s ninth-grade scholarship award along with Roger Koster, dean of students, and Joe Nicklay, principal in Silver bay. Chad is the son of Bob and Beth Smuk.

The chamber has been awarding the scholarships since 1991 with an intention to encourage students to begin planning for their education beyond high school. Selection takes into account community involvement and leadership as well as scholastic achievement.
