Anthony Paul Olson

Anthony Paul Olson, 69, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.

Tony was born Jan. 15, 1942, in Two Harbors to Karl and Helen (Wick) Olson. He graduated from Two Harbors High school in 1960.

In 1961, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served three years on an aircraft carrier as an electronics technician. Following his honorable discharge, he was married to Judy Johnson Sept. 9, 1966. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1970 with a degree in education.

Tony worked for 24 years in various management positions in the telephone industry. All of his hard work paid off with an early retirement in 1993.

Tony had several post-retirement jobs, including ones at Opportunity Living, Martin Hildreth Co., and as a substitute teacher. He assisted in the fall harvest with Greg Moe Farms.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion.

Tony is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Judy; son, Steve (Stacy) Olson of Two Harbors; daughter, Becky (Ken) Osland of Lino Lakes; foster son, Karl (Dawn) Oman of Duluth; grandchildren, Madison Olson, Anthony “Tony,” Kennedy, and Michaela Osland; sisters, Karen Lindgren of Silver Bay, Lois (Ken) Lane of Donna, Texas, and Cindy (Jeff) Milosevich of Aurora, Colo.; brother, Alan (Barb) Olson of Oklahoma City; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Helen Wick Olson.

There was a service Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion.
