Last season saw the Mariner football team in Section 5 for nine-man football with Cromwell, Floodwood, Hill City, McGregor, and Wrenshall. For the next two seasons, they will remain in Section 5 with the same teams plus Cherry, Northland, and AlBrook/Cotton.
In volleyball, Section 7A goes from 24 teams to 23 with the mergers of Cook and Orr, AlBrook and Cotton, and Babbitt-Embarrass and Tower-Soudan, and the additions of Cromwell and Duluth Marshall.
The same mergers will occur for basketball in Section 7A. The boys in 7A will gain Cromwell while the girls will gain Barnum, Cromwell, and McGregor.
Changes for softball in 7A next season have AlBrook, Cotton, and Cherry combining and the addition of Cromwell.
In baseball you go from 21 teams down to 18. Carlton and Northland leave and McGregor pairs with Cromwell. Stay tuned for further changes as the MSHSL moved teams during the season last year.
