Eh? Sorry, it’s snowmobile season

Area snowmobile trails aren’t in much condition for snowmobiles, but the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds ATV riders that they’re off-limits to ATV use entirely.

ATVs are to stay off the trails from Dec. 1 to April 1. DNR conservation officer Matt Miller of Two Harbors reported this week that he had received complaints of ATVs using snowmobile trails.

“We’re concerned about trail damage, yes, but we’re more concerned because the easements for those trails are for snowmobile use only,” Miller said. “If they get abused by ATV use, the landowner could look to get out of the easement, and then we’ve lost a snowmobile trail.”
