Curtis H. Johnson, 76, of Cottage Grove, died Feb. 22, 2011, from a lung disorder.
Curtis H. Johnson, 76, of Cottage Grove, died Feb. 22, 2011, from a lung disorder.
He was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Two Harbors to Sigfried and Emma (Marker) Johnson.
Curtis grew up and attended schools in Two Harbors.
He was in the U.S. Navy from September 1952 until January 1956. Curtis was a fuel attendant with Safeway and was owner/operator of Everyone’s Market in Eugene for a number of years. He also had a business in California.
He married Dorothy who died in 1992 and then on Feb. 27, 1993, in Cottage Grove, he married Deborah.
He previously had lived in Pine Valley, Calif., and Duluth, moving to Cottage Grove in 1991.
Johnson enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Portland Trailblazers, loved barbecues, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Cottage Grove; two sons, Jeff Johnson of Bremerton, Wash., and Mike Johnson of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Vicki Cowan and Valerie Foulds, both of Hoquiam, Wash.; step- children, Cara Crump and Tiffany Dyemartin of Cottage Grove, Camile Davenport of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, Travis Lawson of Eugene, Lynn Granger of Tucson, and Dory Granger of San Diego; two brothers, Richard Johnson of Colorado and Warren Johnson of Minnesota, and 16 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
