The Lake County Humane Society has five puppies looking for good homes. Their mom is a basset hound/border collie mix. Some of the puppies have the short basset legs. All of them are black with white paws and tail tips. They are all adorable, wiggly little munchkins who play with gusto and then crash at nap time. They will be ready for adoption in a couple weeks after they have been spayed and neutered and have their first vaccinations. The society is taking applications now for responsible pet owners.
The puppies will require a lot of work, the society warns. They need training and socializing along with love, food, shelter, and veterinary care. If you put some quality time in with them at the start, they can become wonderful lifelong companions.
If you would like to check out the puppies or any of the other pets, stop by the Lake County Animal Shelter during an open house at 415 20th Ave. Hours are 9-11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 4-6 p.m. Wednesday; and 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Call 834-5806 for more information.
