Marien Swanson

Marien Swanson, 80, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Regional Hospice House.

She was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Two Harbors, to Martin and Minnie Olson. She lived in Two Harbors until moving to Rapid City in 1961.

Marien was a devoted baseball mom for her three boys. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Minneluzahan Senior Center, and Cardiac Rehab. She took great and caring pleasure in her family, church, friends and her faithful dog, Candy.

Survivors include one son, Tom (Jackie) Swanson; and daughters in law, Carol Swanson and Cheryl Swanson all of Rapid City; grandchildren, Neil (Caron) Swanson, Rapid City; Leah (Michael) Khan, of Chicago and Seth and Sid Swanson, of Colorado and one great-grandchild, Berkley Kolkman, (Jaye), Rapid City.

Two sons, Jeff and Jay; two brothers, Irving and Wayne Olson; and her parents preceded her in death.

Services were Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Rev. Wil-bur Holz officiating. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Hills, 224 Elk St., Rapid City, SD 57701.
