Vernon D. Colden, 69, of Two Harbors died Jan. 8, 2011, at Sunrise Home.
Vernon was born Oct. 19, 1941, to Clarence and Lillian (Tapa) Colden in Ogema Township in Pine County. He grew up and attended school in Duluth before joining the Army in 1963.
He served as a dental lab technician at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.
Vern married Diane Endres in Duluth ept. 7, 1965. Upon leaving the Army Vern worked at Abex Corp, Reserve Mining, Lake County, and the Moose Lodge in Two Harbors.
He enjoyed being outside, listening to bluegrass music, being a hobby mechanic, kitties, and spending time with family and friends.
Vern was known for his great sense of humor, ever present readiness to help anyone, and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; and sister, Viola.
Vern is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Diane; children Michael of Tacoma Wash., Theresa (Robert) Orso of Duluth, and Anna (Bill) Walsberg of Two Harbors; grandchildren Ricky, Ryan, Katelyn, and Joey; special friend Andy; and sister Violet Wiita of Duluth.
Services were held Wednesday at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors, followed by burial in the veteran’s section at Lakeview Cemetery.
