Tyyne Ahola of Two Harbors went to Hermantown to spend Christmas Day with her daughter, Jackie Carlson, and family.

What a ride

Tyyne Ahola of Two Harbors went to Hermantown to spend Christmas Day with her daughter, Jackie Carlson, and family. Since there is much more snow up there than in Two Harbors, the family decided to make it easy for Grandma to get from the car up to the house. She went for her first ride on a snow machine. Here she is with two of her grandsons, Bob and Dan Carlson, who made sure she had a safe journey.

Tyyne turns 91 Jan. 16 and just laughed about being nearly 91 and getting her very first ride on a snowmobile. “ Notice the look of glee on her face,” Jackie said. “Merry Christmas, Grandma Tyyne.”

Food money

The Two Harbors Federal Credit Union presented a check for $500 to the Two Harbors Food Shelf this month. The money was raised when credit union staff decided to forego a caterer for the annual picnic this year. In past years, the picnic was catered, but this year, the staff volunteered to make and bring food themselves. The money that would have usually been used to hire the caterer was used to make the donation to the food shelf.

The check for $500 was given to food shelf Director Rose Kiekhafer by THFCU President and CEO Dean Croft.
