The names of the two men killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Minnesota Highway 61 north of Two Harbors have been released.

Aaron Paul Nelson, 22, of Wrenshall, and Nikolas Anthony Nelson, 22, of Carlton, died when the Chevy S10 pickup Aaron Nelson was driving northbound on Highway 61 lost control on the Gooseberry River bridge. The truck went into the southbound lane, where it was broadsided on the passenger side by a southbound Jeep Liberty.

The driver of the Jeep, Molly Gadsby, 23, of Silver Bay, suffered minor injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Both vehicles burned after the crash.

The accident happened about 6 a.m. Roads in the area were slippery from a mixture of rain and snow, and the bridge deck was ice-covered. Traffic was detoured around the accident scene for several hours Tuesday.
