Deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Dennis Wagner, who died Oct. 21at St. Mary’s Hospice at the age of 65. A Celebration of Life memorial service was Tuesday at the United Protestant Church.

Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Harold Cronquist, who passed away this past week at the age of 63.

Finland Fire and Rescue held its gun raffle Sunday at Our Place. The lucky winners are: Gabe Vargas, Remington Model 700 DL 30:06; Robb Larson, Remington Model 870 Express Super Mag shotgun; and Cheri Bischoff, H&R single 20 gauge shotgun. Thanks to all who supported the fund-raiser and to all the local businesses that helped to sell tickets.

There will be a Halloween dance tonight at West Branch. Music will be by the Backwoods Band. There will be costume contest at 10 p.m. Reports are that the adult haunted house Saturday and Sunday was well attended. It will be open again 7-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Josh and Julie Arnold of Chaska spent the weekend with Ric and Diane Lindberg. They also got to experience the Sunday traffic on the North Shore and the joys of construction in Duluth on a busy weekend with kids off for the teacher convention.

Jane Young reported she saw lupines starting to bloom recently by the boat landing at Lax Lake. We are not the only ones confused by the weather.
