Letter to the editor: Rosati knows bottom line

I have spent a considerable amount of time examining the backgrounds of the candidates for Lake County 4th District Commissioner.

I have spent a considerable amount of time examining the backgrounds of the candidates for Lake County 4th District Commissioner. I believe the choice comes down to voter support of individual political ambition or genuine concern for the best interests of all the residents of Lake County.

Mary Henjum Rosati has run her campaign based upon her record of sincerity, honesty, and dedication to the best interests of her constituents and all the residents of Lake County. Her service to the community has been marked by a long history of courteous and energetic leadership, and she has demonstrated her ability to tackle difficult issues openly and directly.

She has also shown wisdom in seeking the advice of others when confronted with new or challenging issues affecting her city and the county. Building relationships with recognized experts in many areas is a sign she is concerned with making informed and appropriate choices for the people she represents.

Mary has also demonstrated her concern for fiscal responsibility and accountability when it comes to government operations. She has been able to reach a position of reasonable balance between the needs of government and the ability of the taxpayer to fund those needs. The challenges of the current economy, and responsibility for managing some $60 million in government loans and $10 million in grants for the new Broadband Initiative, will require a commitment to strong financial management controls. I believe Mary will demand an organizational approach that properly addresses these needs, and protects the financial interest the taxpayers have in all county operations.

I sincerely believe Mary is the District 4 candidate who sincerely has the best interests of all the residents of Lake County as the foremost objective in her public service goals. I believe her record speaks strongly in support of this conclusion.

I urge all those who supported me in the primary election, and all the other voters in District 4, to cast your vote for Mary Henjum Rosati in the upcoming general election.

From Mark Broin, Larsmont
