Letter to the editor: Partner backs Hurd

As a non-resident but interested person with long ties to Lake County, including appointment as a special prosecutor by former County Attorney Bruce Anderson, I would like to provide a brief synopsis of my experiences with Lake County Attorney candidate Jeremy Hurd.

As a non-resident but interested person with long ties to Lake County, including appointment as a special prosecutor by former County Attorney Bruce Anderson, I would like to provide a brief synopsis of my experiences with Lake County Attorney candidate Jeremy Hurd.

Jeremy came to work in this office directly from a clerkship with the Judge Kenneth Sandvik in Lake County. During his clerkship, he had an opportunity to be intimately involved with all matters that came before Judge Sandvik on behalf of Lake County, whether civil or criminal. When he began working with us, as is customary, he came as a newly minted lawyer. He was dedicated to his profession and learning all that he could about being an effective advocate for the people who place their trust in us to provide legal services. Five years ago, he became a full partner in the office.

As a partner, not only does Jeremy have responsibilities to our clients, he also bears part of the burden for the administrative responsibilities in the office and he has handled them with sensitivity. They include things as varied as working with our budget to personnel matters.

I can say from personal experience that Jeremy has steadfastly shown his abilities in providing advice to clients from all walks of life and in all circumstances. He will carry those attributes with him in whatever he does in the future. I believe he would be an effective, knowledgeable, and skilled county attorney who can and will provide effective representation for all citizens of Lake County regardless of their background and regardless of their status.
