Saturday brought plenty of sunshine, wind and good times for the 25th Annual Harvest Booya.

Saturday brought plenty of sunshine, wind and good times for the 25th Annual Harvest Booya. It was nice to see the many familiar faces that come back each year for this special event, enjoying the craft sales and good food booths. Booya was selling fast and furious and they ran out by 2:30.

Deepest sympathy goes out to Travis, Mandy and Gabriel Vargas in the loss of their father, Juan Vargas, who passed away Saturday in Wausau, Wis.

Ann Striker of Foley spent the weekend with Jim and Verna Sinderman to help out with the Booya. On Monday she motored to Virginia to visit with Lorraine Erickson. Some of you may remember Lorraine when she lived here and taught at the Finland School.

Get well wishes go out to Noreen Ege, who is back from a hospital stay in Duluth.

Samantha Goette, who is attending Finlanda College in Hancock, Mich., came home to celebrate her 21st birthday, which was on Sept. 11. Birthday wishes go out to Samantha.

John and Betty Pounds of Boerne, Texas, arrived Friday to spend a week on the North Shore and visit with Betty’s sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ric Lindberg; her mother, Lila Hangartner; and many other friends and relatives. On Monday they joined Bob and Linda Albert of White Bear Lake for a trip to Grand Marais. Betty has been very busy making some beautiful items to be sold at the Zion Church Women’s Bazaar in November.

Congratulations to Brock and Cassie Ernest on their new baby girl who joins proud sister Callie. Charlee Lynn was born Friday, weighing in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 19.9 inches long.

Birthday wishes go to Millie Goette. To celebrate her 80th there will be an open house 1-4 p.m. Saturday at her home.
