A deep hole could be found in the heart of the downtown business district in Two Harbors this week as work continued on the total reconstruction of the street and underground systems this summer.

All of the First Avenue construction area is closed but officials say the project remains on schedule, to be done by October.

A bit ahead of schedule is the water tower on the north city of the city. It has taken its shape and is ready for paint, something not planned until next spring. City engineers report that painting is being done on the inside of the tank. The outside is next, with the slogan: It All Starts Here.
