Drilling for oil in Agate BayIt may look like a replay of an event in July but the action around Agate Bay Tuesday was only a drill for county emergency responders and the Coast Guard.
No false alarm this time.
This was a genuine, legit drill. Workers from CN Railway teamed with the Coast Guard and Lake County emergency responders Tuesday for a simulated fuel spill drill on Agate Bay.
A command center was set up at the Two Harbors Community Center with the county’s mobile response unit in the parking lot for backup radio and planning.
Crews at the public boat launch pulled booms into the bay and over toward the CN docks.
The Coast Guard requires a drill in Two Harbors every three years. CN said it tries to get in emergency training at least once a year.
