Pastor Theodore M. Nelson died peacefully July 30, 2010, at the Sunrise Home in Two Harbors. He was born Feb. 6, 1920, to Theodore and Mabel Nelson in rural Cadott, Wis.
He went to school in Stanley. After high school he attended Augsburg College and went on to the Luther Seminary. While at the seminary he met the love of his life, Helen Lorvig, and they were married Dec. 28, 1946. They had five children.
In the course of his life he served several congrega- tions, starting first as a Navy Chaplin in World War II. Since then he was a pastor in Greenwood, Wis., Our Saviors Lutheran in Superior, Sychar Lutheran in Silver Bay, House of Hope Luther- an in New Hope, and English Lutheran in Ellsworth, Wis.
Retirement was spent for many years in River Falls and finally he settled in Two Harbors.
He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Morris; and sister, Esther Hoiland.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen; brothers Kenneth (Chippewa Falls), David (Farmington), and sister, Myrtle Larson (Chippewa Falls), son Thomas (Kelley) of Duluth, daughters Sarah (Paul) Beckey of Two Harbors, Gretchen (David) of Oregon, Rebekah (Peter) Taylor of Oregon, and Brenda (Tom) of New York; four grandchildren: Lauren, Cedar, Robin, and Simon.
A funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 15 at Big Drywood Lutheran Church in Cadott. Memorials can go to the organization of your choice.
