Bayside Chatter: Hockey school wraps up

The Silver Bay Blue Line Club 27th annual summer hockey school began Saturday with 140 players and concludes Sunday.
Participating as counselors/coaches this year are Drew LeBlanc of St. Cloud State, Libby Guzzo of UMD/St. Scholastica, Mike Carman of the Gophers and Colorado Avalanche, Kyle Schmidt of UMD, Ryan Schmidt of UWS, Jake Johnson of Northern Michigan and Biz Huss of Bethel.
College coaches involved are Bob Ritzer an assistant at UW-River Falls, Mark Wick head coach of St. Scholastica and Eric Means head coach of the Minnesota State-Mankato women.
High school coaches involved are Mike Guzzo and Shawn Bartlette of Silver Bay, Steve Wasko of Two Harbors, Steve Kirley of Hayward and Guy LeBlanc of Hermantown. Dave Dilley of Silver Bay returns as the goalie coach. Former Mariner Paul Ostoff is the director of the whole show.
Bleachers
The new bleachers at the football field are looking real good. The old wooden things have been replaced by aluminum. Shane Billings did the demolition of the old ones as his Eagle Scout project.
Junior hockey
The Duluth Clydesdales and the Wisconsin Wilderness of Spooner have joined the Superior International Junior Hockey League. They join up with the Fort William, Dryden, Fort Frances and Sioux Lookout Flyers. Duluth has approached Silver Bay about the possibility of playing games there.
