Lions International recognizes outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones. The Fellowship Award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the purpose of the Lions.
Rose Amesbury and Chris Ostby of Two Harbors received the Helen Keller Achievement Award and the June meeting. The awards were established by American Foundation for the Blind in 1994 to acknowledge extraordinary efforts and promote the notable achievements of individuals and organizations that have improved the quality of life for all people who are blind or visually impaired.
