Troy Guentzel of Two Harbors has accepted scholarships from Bemidji State University for the coming academic year. Guentzel, a senior majoring in physical education and health, will receive a $300 Willie Stittsworth DAPE Scholarship and a $600 Marion Christianson and Betsy McDowell Scholarship.

Darren Thewis of Two Harbors was named to the Dean’s List at Alexandria Technical and Community College this past spring. He was one of 439 students noted for academic excellence with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Thewis is studying carpentry.

Staci Lieffring, daughter of Dan and Cindy Lieffring, graduated summa cum laude, with distinction, from the University of Minnesota May 17. She earned a degree in business and marketing from the Carlson School of Management and a degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts. She also received a 3M cash award for scholarship, leadership and service in marketing. She will attend law school in the fall. She is a 2006 graduate of Two Harbors High School.
