The 17th Annual Knife River Solstice Walk/Run had around 90 participants of all ages in the 5K run, 2-mile walk and kid’s races. Kathleen Monaghan, of Duluth, was the overall winner of the 5K run, even beating out the first male finisher, Rod Raymond, by nearly a minute.

Top finishers in the two mile walk were Herb Dillon and Nancy Hinzmann, both of Duluth. The run/walk is a fund-raiser for the Knife River Recreational Center. “We had a good turn out for the races and the kid’s games, and everyone seemed to enjoy the event,” said race coordinator Kelly Faughnan.
