Richard A. (Rick) Larson, 64, died at home on June 19, 2010, under hospice care.
Rick was born on April 19, 1946, to Theodore and Geraldine Larson in Duluth and attended school in Clover Valley. After graduation he joined the Army National Guard.
On Nov. 25, 1967, Rick married Louise O’Jay and had four children.
He worked construction with his uncle, Earl Williams, and was a custodian for ten years at North Shore Elementary.
In 1970 he became a constable for Duluth Township.
He joined the Two Harbors police department and retired in 1999. During that time he won numerous trophies at the various police pistol shoots. Richard was also a fire warden for 32 years.
His hobbies were mounting deer horns, coin collecting and gardening. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends at their Kane Lake cabin, and time with all of his buddies at the hunting shack on “Petri Hill.”
Whether it was carpentry, plumbing, or mechanics, Richard was always there to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, uncles and aunts and his best friend, his dog, “Regie.”
He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters, Patty (Charlie) Aune, of Two Harbors, Nancy (Loren) Herrick of Rockland, Maine, Kathy (Shawn) Dewey of Two Harbors; Son, Eric (Jenn) Larson of Two Harbors. Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service for Rick will be held Saturday, June 26 at 3 p.m. at the American Legion.
