First, Agates to those who chose the new banners greeting people on Waterfront Drive in Two Harbors. They look nice and many people have taken notice and offered compliments.
An Agate to the city of Two Harbors for its deer feeding ban. Despite the new ordinance being on par with bringing a Dixie cup of water to fight a barn fire, the issue of deer in the city requires any small measures to help keep the population from exploding. They are a danger to motorists, a hair-pulling nuisance to gardeners, and a draw for predators within city limits. Don’t feed them. Don’t encourage them. And know that if you get caught, it will cost you. And don’t think you won’t get caught. There are plenty of neighbors out there with no sympathy for deer.
Nice try, Old Man Winter, but we will call your bluff. No Tarball for you. How about an Agate for reminding us of the crazy climate we live in by depositing no snow in March or April but some in May? No matter, just makes us appreciate the good stretch of spring weather we’ve been having since.
A Tarball to the snowmobile water skippers last week. Sheriff’s deputies had two calls to stop this dangerous practice.
Big Agates to fixing Seventh Avenue sidewalks. Anyone who has stubbed a toe, had to go around big breaks, or turned an ankle will agree.
Finally, an Agate to Ron Benson for cleaning up the property on Highway 2 and Press Camp Road. It looks nice now.
