Men from around the region participated in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” Saturday which is meant to protest rape, sexual assault and gender violence.
Men from around the region participated in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” Saturday which is meant to protest rape, sexual assault and gender violence. Community members and leaders proclaimed their solidarity with a rape prevention movement by marching in high heels, with women and children marching as well.
Educators, students and members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office participated.
Lake Superior School District Board Chair Leo Babeu talked about how violence against women has affected his family.
Last year his niece, Emily Rachel Silverstein, was murdered by an ex-boyfriend in Pennsylvania.
Proceeds from the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event will benefit North Shore Horizon’s violence prevention efforts and rape crisis services in Lake County.
