She was born June 10, 1942 to Clarence “Fats” and Ethel (Chell) Larson in Mahtowa, where she grew up. After graduating from Barnum High School, she attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. She made her home in Two Harbors since 1968 and was employed for many years as an insurance agent and also worked for Montgomery Ward, Two Harbors Federal Credit Union and Norwest Bank.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, the Lions Club and Two Harbors Curling Club. Diane loved spending time with her family, and children, including many she provided foster care for. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and country music.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Darwin Larson; and a nephew, Greg Ward.
Diane is survived by her children, Darla Coleman of Superior, Carey (Connie) Johnson and Christopher (Gretchen) Johnson of Two Harbors, and Deborah Westin; a sister, Doris (Paul) Ward of Mahtowa; a brother, Donald “Bud” (Janice) Larson of Moose Lake; sister-in-law, Jean Larson of Roseville; grandchildren Calab, Stephi, Nels, Brianna, Gabe, Laine, Sammy, and Matthew; a great-grandchild, Ashton; a special friend, Rudy Pluth; and many nieces and nephews.
