Mitchell Paul Reitan, 49, of Two Harbors, died April 8, 2010, at home after battling Type I Diabetes since he was 21 years old.

Mitchell Paul Reitan, 49, of Two Harbors, died April 8, 2010, at home after battling Type I Diabetes since he was 21 years old. Mitch was born Aug. 2, 1960, to William and Marilyn (Essen) Reitan in Duluth. He grew up and graduated from Two Harbors High School and then earned a degree from Anoka Vocational Tech.

Mitch was adventurous and worked away from home in California, Nebraska, North Carolina, Duluth and then back to Two Harbors.

Mitch was a member of United Church in Two Harbors and loved his family, especially all the young ones. He enjoyed spending time at Kane Lake fishing, hunting, and was a big fan of all sports. He had a heart of gold.

He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley; mother, Marilyn; brothers, Scott (Sherry) and Brad (Pam); nephew, Andy Reitan; nieces, Megan, Kendra, Becca, and Rheanna Reitan; great nieces and nephews, Carter, Shelby, Savannah, and Kali; and special friend, Kim Olson.

A memorial service begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
