Bikers coming

The bike tour called “Bicycling Around Minnesota” will make a stop in Two Harbors and other parts of northeastern Minnesota for its fifth annual ride. Up to 275 bicyclists will converge on Cloquet, Duluth, Two Harbors, Virginia, Eveleth and Hibbing Aug. 18-21. The group will begin in Cloquet and spend the first night near Burlington Bay.

The goal of the ride is to promote tourism, fitness and safe bicycling on scenic Minnesota roads. Last year there were riders representing 12 states and Canada. The ride is intended for moderate and experienced riders and will cover from 65-70 miles a day. Local residents are invited to participate.

Beginning and ending in Cloquet, the bike route meanders through the port city of Duluth before heading up to Two Harbors and a stay at Lakeview Park. BAM riders will then head to the Iron range and Virginia, Hibbing and Eveleth. On the fourth day the route travels in a southern direction, back to Cloquet.

For details of the BAM ride or to register, go to www.bambiketour.org or send your questions to contact@bambiketour.org.
