Marty Stage (Ely) worked crappie fishermen and ATV enforcement. The ice is going fast. The wheelers are coming out and people are riding on the roads and in the wetlands. Parents are reminded that they are responsible for what their children do and should be aware that they may be cited if their child is violating ATV laws.
John Velsvaag (Ely) checked anglers this past week with rapidly deteriorating ice conditions. He also received another wolf complaint as well as calls about trapping and turkey season. Finished up on fish house removal violations and litter complaints.
Randy Hanzal (Duluth) spent time patrolling for illegal fires. Burning without a permit, burning prohibited material and allowing a smoldering fire are a few violations encountered. Several ATV violations included, no current registration, failure to display registration, trespass and operate in closed areas. Litter complaint from this past ice fishing season were followed up. A meeting to discuss newly closed areas to ATVs inside the Cloquet Valley Forest was also attended.
