Lillian E. Dwan, 95, of Two Harbors, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Sunrise Home.

Lillian was born Feb. 1, 1914, to Haakon and Thora (Henriksen) Haugstad in Winegan, Wis. (Presque Isle) and grew up in Duluth. After graduating from Proctor High School and Duluth State Teachers College with a degree in education, she taught school in Sandstone.

She married Thomas Dwan on July 1, 1939, and they made their home in Two Harbors.

Lillian and Tom loved to travel and visited most continents in the world. She had a life-long interest in education, loved to read, and was an excellent seamstress, designing many of her own clothes. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, served on many community organization boards, and the Bethel Society of Duluth, and was proud of her Norwegian heritage.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas in 1985, and a brother. She will be sadly missed by her special friends and “adopted” family of David “Benna” and Mary Lou Johnson.

Lillian was a very kind, gentle person to all who knew her.

Visitation were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
