Ian Wallin, a fifth-grader at Silver Bay Elementary, raced in the White Oak Classic sled dog race in Deer River last weekend. The 18-mile recreation race was his first and he won an award as the youngest musher to finish. He is the son of Ward and Colleen Wallin, veterans of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon that begins Jan. 31 and runs through Lake County.
Tara Olson has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at Lake Superior College. She is studying in the medical field.
Rebecca Croft of Two Harbors has been named to the St. Cloud State University Dean’s List after the fall semester. Students must uphold a grade point average of 3.75 or higher to be recognized with the honor. Croft is an elementary education major at the school.
