Two Harbors diver Rebecca Ronning qualified for the state swim meet that began this week at the University of Minnesota.
This time, the sophomore wants a better result compared to last year, when she didn’t make it out of the first round.
“I had kind of an off day,” she said. She felt intimidated by the swimmers from the bigger schools, she said. “I will try and have a lot more fun this time.”
She won’t be alone on her venture to Minneapolis.
“My teammates are very supportive,” Ronning said. Her mom, Kathy, who is also her diving coach, will be there as well.
“She has to have fun and not let the scores bother her,” Kathy said.
Other swimmers had success at the section meet last week. “It was a very exciting sections for us this year,” said head swimming coach Tara Kasell. “Lots of girls swam personal best times and the two meets, and we brought home more medals this year than any other since I’ve been coach.”
