Robert L. Williams, 59, of Silver Bay, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at St. Mary’s Medical Center after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Robert was born February 19, 1950, to Carl and Edith (Lundgren)Williams in Wheaton. He grew up farming, and, on July 27, 1968, he married Carol Swanson in Two Harbors.
He was drafted into the Army and served during the Vietnam War. Robert was a jack-of-all-trades, working at Reserve Mining, LaBounty, and as a painter and carpenter. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.
Robert was affectionately known as “Pretty Bob” and will be sadly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol, in April of this year; brothers Laurence (Jean) and Dale; and sisters-in-law, Marie and Wanda.
He is survived by his children, Jolene (John) Stover of North Branch, Tami (Brian) Hiland of North Branch, Heather (Ted) Peterson of Finland, Holly (Michael Ostrowski) of Silver Bay, Jim (Kara) of Silver Bay, and Jarod (Casey Larson) of Silver Bay; brothers and sisters, Anna (Stanley) Chirstians, Carl (Janet), Norman (Mavis), Paul, Carolyn (Arthur) Reischstadt, Loretta (George) Hetherington, Lloyd, and JoAnna (Russ) Jones; aunt, May; grandchildren, Melissa, Kayla, Josh, Ashley, Emily, Cody, Josie, Chase, Ben, Carter, Cash, Talon, Wiley, and Nicholas; great-grandson, Vincent; many nieces and nephews; and one grandchild, and one great-grandchild on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bay Area Vineyard Church in Silver Bay. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
