The Agates boy’s soccer team fell to Grand Rapids 7-1 in the first round of the section playoffs.
Seventh-seeded Grand Rapids started out fast, scoring in the first two minutes and never looking back
Earlier in the season Two Harbors lost to Grand Rapids 4-1.
Before the season began, Two Harbors head coach Corey Shaw expected his team to play into late October after the team finished with a 2-14 record last season.
“Our team has speed and touch with the ball so what we need to do as a team in keep our touches with the ball short and quick and move off the ball to utilize our speed, and the experience that we have with so many of these kids playing varsity this year,” he said before the season began.
The Agates were cold coming down the home stretch. At the beginning of the season, they lost two in a row, but bounced back with three straight wins. The Agates lost six in a row to finish the season with a record of 5-11.
Among the seniors not returning will be captain and goalie Andrew Kragseth and center-mid captain Jon Nevala-Plagemann.
