The Mariners volleyball season couldn’t have started any better.
Winning its first two games with a new head coach couldn’t have been easy, but now the team has hit a rough patch.
Last week they lost to Esko 3-0 and this week they lost to Floodwood by the same tally.
“We had a tough week,” said Head Coach Andrea McMillen. “We’re kind of in a slump, but we also played some tough teams.”
Against Floodwood, Kirstin Sandstrom had three ace-serves, 10 digs, five kills, three blocks and one assist. Jessica Solberg also helped the team’s cause with seven kills to go along with her seven digs and one ace-serve. Marina Carter also had four kills and 10 blocks in the match-up.
Why the sudden slump?
“I would like to see them give 110 percent on the court and in practices,” McMillen said, adding she wants the team to play well down the home stretch of the season.
