“I’m leaving on a jet plane I don’t know when I’ll be back again,” the late Mary Travers sang.
Though the Two Harbors girls soccer team has been doing a lot of traveling lately, fortunately their future is not quite as up in the air.
Last week they went down to play a strong Chisago Lakes team.
Two Harbors was able to keep the game close at the half with a score of 1-0 Chisago, but couldn’t muster up any offensive firepower in the second, losing 2-0.
“I felt we were putting forth a much better effort,” said Head Coach Jeff Peterson. “We played a really good first half.”
Peterson pointed to midfielder Kristy Olson for having a strong game against Chisago Lakes.
“She was just solid on both sides of the ball,” he said.
This week the Agates’ Lacey Myrdal put on a show at Grand Rapids with a first half hat trick in a 3-0 win. She had missed some recent games due to an injury. Hayley Horgan and Ivie Brooks assisted her on two of the goals, while the other needed no help.
The upcoming playoffs are looming with only three regular season games left for the Agates.
Next up for Two Harbors is Duluth East at home at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.
“None of the area teams have defeated them,” Peterson said. “We usually put out a good effort against them.”
