This week, the Two Harbors High School/Silver Bay swim team won the Ely/Tower-Soudan /Babbitt-Embarrass Triangular.
“To win this triangular has been the team’s goal for the last couple years,” said Head Coach Tara Kasell. “Last year we came close, but we had a really good feeling about winning it this year. The team takes home a traveling trophy and the girls really … wanted THHS represented on that plaque.”
They won the meet, even with a peculiar diving situation.
“BETA just repainted their diving blocks and they weren’t dry in time for the meet, so the girls had to dive off the wall,” Kasell said. “Even so, the team still ended up with 13 time improvements.”
Those improvements, along with some other top scores, led the team to victory.
“It was a very fun and exciting meet and to win it was the perfect ending,” Kasell said. “The girls really worked hard and were very proud to carry home that trophy.”
