Oct. 9

Ryan Gale, author of “The Great Northwest Fur Trade” will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Silver Bay Public Library.

Oct. 11

The annual Hospice Memorial Service, hosted by St. Mary’s Hospice and Palliative Care at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Covenant Church, 1001 Jean Duluth Road in Duluth. Hospice families and friends gather to remember loved ones, to honor families, and to thank community caregivers. For more information, call (218) 786-4020.

Oct. 12

There will be a Sunrise Auxiliary meeting at 1 p.m. at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Oct. 13

Lake County SLAN will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. at Arrowhead RSVP AEOA 2124, 10th Street in the Industrial Park. Coffee and rolls will be served. This month’s discussion topic is board development and an update on the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.

The Sons of Norway, Terje Viken Lodge 017, will hold its October meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Fellowship Hall. Our program for the evening will be “Norway - Updates” presented by Lucille Hansen. Don’t miss this one. Please remember to bring your donations for the food shelf, stamps for Tubfrim and pop tabs also. Don’t forget the board meeting, held at the Two Harbors Library at 6:15 p.m., Oct. 12, the Monday before the regular meeting. We thank those in advance who will be serving refreshments for the meeting.

Oct. 15

Two Harbors American Legion Auxiliary will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend.

Oct. 17

Jerry’s Dance Band featuring old time, country, modern and foxtrots at Beaver Bay Community Building from 2-6 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. Bars, coffee and soda will be available.

On-going events

Harbor Mates is a social club for people age 50 or older that offers a variety of theatre and travel opportunities. Call Ann Bradley at The Lake Bank for upcoming theatre and travel events. For more, call 834-2111.

The North Shore Photo Club in Two Harbors is exhibiting photographic artwork at the Vanilla Bean. The exhibit will run through Oct. 25. The theme for this exhibit is “Macro Photography,” and will include works from at least five members of the club. The club meets on the first Thursday of each month in the basement of the Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Caregiver Sharing Group meets the second Wednesday of every month, 1-2:30 p.m. at the United Protestant Church, Silver Bay. This group is run through Northshore Area Partners, a nonprofit living at home/block program working with elders to keep them in their homes.

Harbor Center, 111 Waterfront Drive, Two Harbors is an adult drop-in center providing coffee and activities plus. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. with a monthly meeting on the third Monday at 1 p.m.

Family Caregiver Sharing Group meets every second Thursday from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Lake View Memorial Hospital in the lower level meeting room. Call Linda Kinnunen at Community Partners, 834-8024.
