Audrey L. Rahko, 73, Two Harbors, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at her home.

Audrey was born Aug. 1, 1936 in Fort Frances, Ontario to Robert and Ethel (Wall) McDonald.

She grew up on the family farm in Stratton, Ontario, and attended schools there. After living in Winnipeg, Manitoba for several years, she moved to Two Harbors in 1967 and was employed by Gopher State Telephone Company (later Contel and GTE) from 1967 until retiring in 1990. After retirement from GTE she worked at the American Legion until 2003.

Audrey enjoyed playing bingo, curling, camping and fishing at Lake Winnibigoshish. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and the Women of the Moose.

She was preceded in death by brothers Elmer and James; her parents, grandson Mathew and by her husband, Gary Rahko in 1999.

Audrey is survived by a son, Elmer (Rhonda) Tough of Steinbach, Manitoba; her daughter, Donna (Frank) Herold of Winnipeg, Manitoba; a stepdaughter, Gloria Bolen of Two Harbors; brothers, Clarence “Ken” (Lorraine) McDonald of Stratton, Ontario and Ralph McDonald of Knoxville, Tenn.; and her grandsons, Jeff and Justin Herold, Matt (Kim) and Casey (Michelle Flynn) Hyopponen and Great-grandson Colton Hyopponen.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 12 Noon Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors, followed by lunch in the Moose Lodge. Arrangements by Cavallin Funeral Home.
