After tying a very tough opponent in Hermantown last week, the Two Harbors girl’s soccer team has fallen short of its potential. The Agates were shredded 9-3 by Cloquet.

“We forgot to tighten the lug nuts on the tire,” said Head Coach Jeff Peterson about the team’s loss. “The potential is still there. We need to know how to use it.”

This week, the Agates hoped to reverse the trend and play more like they did against the Hawks. Against Duluth Marshall, Two Harbors jumped to an early 2-0 lead with two Lacey Myrdal goals in the first half.

In the second half Marshall came back with two goals of its own to end the game in a 2-2 tie.

“In the second half, we didn’t come out with the intention of winning,” Peterson said. “It felt more like a loss.”
