Elizabeth L. Garrison, 90, Elizabeth L. Garrison, 90, lifelong resident of Beaver Bay, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at her home, with her family by her side.
She was born Jan. 4, 1916, to Oscar and Lena (Slater) Lovold in Beaver Bay.
She came from a pioneering family who settled in Beaver Bay in the early 1800s. Elizabeth graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1934, and married Maxwell Garrison in 1935. Together they operated the Trading Post in Beaver Bay for 20 years.
She was a charter member of the United Protestant Church, Silver Bay, Bay Area Historical Society and Loyal Order of Moose, Two Harbors. Elizabeth enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a wonderful wife and mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Leonard, Henry and Ole Lovold; grandsons Asher Smith and Vincent Nordby; and great-grandson Cody Davis.
She is survived by her husband Maxwell, Beaver Bay; daughters Sherry Thompson, Esko, Gail (Neil) Gratiot, Silver Bay, Linda (Roger) Malzac, Silver Bay, and Rosamund (James) Smith, Grand Rapids; sister Karen Nurmi, Beaver Bay; brother George E. Lovold, Annandale; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 2, 2006, at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. Burial at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery at a later date.
