A California jury found a former Two Harbors High School assistant girls soccer coach not guilty on two counts of assault after he was accused of having consensual sex with student from Duluth’s Harbor City International student while at a field trip in Death Valley.
Brice Robert Hansen, 30, a University of Minnesota Duluth graduate student, had been on trial for the last week in Inyo County. The jury deliberated part of Tuesday and Wednesday morning before coming back with a verdict.
The Duluth Police Department conducted the investigation and one of the department’s officers flew to California to testify, along with witnesses and the alleged victim, according to Brian Dressler, the chief investigator for the Inyo County district attorney’s office.
Hansen, who is married, declined comment during the trial through his Duluth attorney, Andy Pierce.
Hansen also was a teacher at the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland.
