Agate girl’s soccer opponents should look out for a squad trying to prove itself in the coming weeks.

With a big win and a huge tie the last week, the Agates are a team not to be messed with.

Last week they blew by Eveleth-Gilbert 8-0.

Eight different players scored for Two Harbors and Lucy Bukowski was solid in goal.

Ivie Brooks, Maja Soerensen, Lacey Myrdal, Taylor Udenberg, Maddie Wielinski, Amber Graden, Jade Turnquist and Abbie Nordean all contributed to the offensive cause.

“For several of the players, it was their first goal,” Peterson said. “We worked on passing a lot in the game.

This week, the Agates took on a tough Hermantown team that went to state last year.

Brooks (assisted by Wielinski) scored in the first half to give Two Harbors the 1-0 lead. The Hawks later tied the game in the first half.

Two overtimes later and the game ended in a stalemate 1-1, even though the Agates kept the ball in their possession for much of the overtimes.

“All of the kids played with their best effort,” Peterson said, adding Bukowski was solid in goal once again after stopping some point-blank shots.

Peterson did try out some new strategy for the game moving Nina Bukowski to midfielder and Katelyn Adams to center-back.

“If we play like this the rest of the year, that would be fantastic,” Peterson said.
