Northern Lights: Sept. 13-On-going events

A summary of upcoming events in the area.

Sunday, Sept. 13

The Dedication of the Memorial Garden of Knife River Lutheran Church will take place at the 8:30 a.m. worship service. A reception in the garden will follow at 9:30 a.m. All are invited to come and see this beautiful Garden, featuring stone mosaics created by Laura Stone and the Knife River community, and a fountain created by Dale Burton.

Monday, Sept. 14

The Sunrise Auxiliary will meet at 1 p.m. at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Friday Sept. 18

Socially Active Seniors night out dinner at Perkins plus attend “Tribute to Nat King Cole” Mitchell Auditorium. Leave Two Harbors at 4 pm.

On-going events

The Lake Superior Youth Chorus is currently accepting registrations for the 2009-2010 season. All area youth are encouraged to join. The Lake Superior Youth Chorus provides artistic vocal training and performance for young voices and features three choirs: Choristers for children in grades 3-5, concert choir for singers in grades 6-8, and “Encore!,” a high school ensemble for grades 9-12. Please call Choir Coordinator Jodi Lochner at (218) 213-4154 to join. Rehearsals start on Sunday, Sept. 13 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Duluth. Caregiver Sharing Group meets the second Wednesday of every month, 1 – 2:30 p.m. at the United Protestant Church, Silver Bay. This group is run through Northshore Area Partners, a non-profit living at home/block program working with elders to keep them in their homes.

Harbor Center, 111 Waterfront Drive, Two Harbors is an adult drop in center providing coffee and activities plus. Open Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Sat. 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. with a monthly meeting on the third Monday at 1 p.m. We are reaching out to the community!
