The Two Harbors volleyball team opened its season with a loss last week to Virginia 3-0.
Agate Abby Ray had five kills and Sarah Stark added 14 digs.
A same story developed later in the week when the Agates fell to Greenway in three sets. Stark had 23 digs in the game while Sasha Fjeran and Courtney Kimball both had two ace-serves.
Head coach Dory Pohl said her team started the season with a tough schedule.
“It was a gut check about where we were at,” she said.
In their next game, Eveleth-Gilbert defeated Two Harbors in three sets. Ashley Gilbert had five kills in the game and Stark had 22 digs.
Pohl said she knew the team would be inexperienced going into the season, but she has smart players who need to be strategic in their hitting.
